Arsene Wenger believes that Tottenham Hotspur will challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.

Those associated with Spurs are not getting carried away despite the Lilywhites sitting at the top of the table after ten matches.

Ange Postecoglou said in his post-match press conference following the win over Crystal Palace that the Tottenham players have their feet firmly planted on the ground and are focused on improving (Football.London).

Meanwhile, captain Son Heung-min has insisted that it is too early to think about a potential title challenge (Tribal Football) while vice-captain Cristian Romero has said that the Lilywhites are taking things one game at a time (Sky Sports,).

The general consensus among pundits over the last few days has been that Tottenham do not have the squad depth to challenge the likes of City (talkSPORT), but that is an assertion that Wenger disagrees with.

Arsene Wenger thinks Spurs are title contenders

When asked about Spurs’ title credentials, the Arsenal legend told beIN SPORT (via The Metro): “If I said after 10 games [they’d be] top of the league… You ask me, not a tricky question because I like always to say what I feel deeply, and I believe Tottenham will be one of the contenders for the league.

“They bought Maddison, who is a great player and who is that link from low midfield to high midfield, and added some technical creativity to the team.

“They bought Van de Ven who I find exceptional. I find him absolutely exceptional. They had weaknesses there [at the back] and last year [Hugo] Lloris didn’t have the best of seasons as well. And overall, the movement from Son into the middle looks very good.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like some pundits are now slowly coming around to the idea that Tottenham might just be serious title contenders this season.

However, with just a quarter of the campaign gone, it is too early to make confident statements about our chances, particularly with some tougher tests to come over the next few weeks.
