Football.London’s Rob Guest has revealed that just ahead of the second half at Selhurst Park last week, the Tottenham players gathered outside the tunnel to have a discussion among themselves about what needed to change.

The first half was an extremely cagey affair last Friday, with Spurs being unable to create opportunities despite enjoying a huge amount of possession.

The home side did have a flurry of corner-kicks towards the end of the first period and some Spurs fans might have been worried at the interval that it would end up being a typical smash-and-grab win by the home side.

However, Tottenham came out quite determined in the second half and gave a much better account of themselves, emerging with a deserved 2-1 win.

The Lilywhites managed the game brilliantly after taking the lead on 53 minutes, inviting pressure from the Eagles before playing through their press.

Tottenham Hotspur is now full of leaders

Guest explained that the players spoke among themselves just before the second half to explore what kind of solutions they could find on the pitch.

The journalist revealed on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast: “I think I caught a glimpse of it on the screen next to my desk.

“After they’d come out of the dressing room, they had basically gathered at the side of the tunnel, I think they were having a bit of a discussion.

Ange Postecoglou would have said his bit at half-time and the players then quite clearly had their own say, needing to find solutions.

“Ange was asked about it in his post-match press conference and he was basically saying he can’t be on the pitch kicking the ball and whatnot, it’s down to them when they’re on the pitch and finding their own solutions.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is noticeable that the likes of Maddison and Son are constantly talking to their teammates during any break in play regarding what they could do differently. Even though we have quite a young side, there is no doubt that we have several leaders within the team.
